About Kerry:
Kerry Werner (USA) is one of the most recognizable names in American off-road cycling, a consummate pro whose résumé spans UCI cyclocross victories, elite podiums across mountain bike and gravel, and a decade of documenting the sport’s grit and joy through his popular videos and storytelling. A technician on the bike and a student of training science, Kerry brings a rare blend of race craft, course reading, and practical know-how—from tire choice and pressure to pacing, fueling, and pre-ride routines.
Now joining KX3 as a coach, Kerry translates thousands of competitive hours into clear, actionable guidance for athletes of all levels. His coaching style emphasizes consistency, smart structure, and repeatable habits that build durable fitness—while keeping the stoke high. Athletes can expect individualized training plans, honest feedback loops, and race-day frameworks that focus on decision-making under pressure.Â
Rooted in the Virginia’s Blue Ridge community and active across the U.S. race calendar, Kerry is equally at home preparing juniors for their first start grid as he is sharpening national-level contenders. Whether the goal is a first podium, a breakthrough CX season, or a confident transition from road to dirt, Kerry’s athlete-first approach helps riders progress with purpose—and have fun doing it.

What inspired you to become a coach?Â
I’ve always wanted to help juniors wrap their heads around what it’s like to adopt professional level routines, mindset, and understand the training side at the highest levels. It’s something I didn’t have when I was coming through the junior ranks and I missed out on some crucial learning curves and perspectives during my development because I didn’t have the tools available to me. Coaching knowledge wasn’t as wide spread when I was young and there weren’t as many pros (that I knew) that had gone through it. Cycling changed my life and opened my eyes to a world of things I likely would not have otherwise seen or experienced. Helping kids down that path is extremely important to me as I step away from racing and look to make an impact in the sport in a different, more meaningful, way. Â
Motivational warm up song:
It’s gotta be heavy! Downswing- Serpent, Polaris- All of This is Fleeting, Fox Lake- IYKYK
If you were a trail what would it be called:
Hold Me Mommy- It would obviously be an intimidating trail.
Best advice you’ve ever been given?
Always have a plan B. The one thing that’s constant in life is change. Being prepared for the inevitable can help you pivot faster and make moves towards stability and peace of mind. Â
Tell us something about yourself that people may not know.Â
I was pulled from my first CX National Championships in Bend, Or because I was wearing a wig. The official thought I was a lapped rider. Fastforward, I have 3 national SS CX titles. The most recent in a wig.Â
Favorite words of inspiration:
Bite off more than you can chew. Then chew like hell!Â
