About Allison:

Allison began her competitive cycling career at 14, in her hometown of Calgary, located just east of Canada's Rocky Mountains. In her junior years, she focused on road and track cycling, competing in the 2010 & 2011 world championships across the disciplines.

She eventually joined the Canadian senior national team at the age of 20, competing in the 2016 Rio Olympics in both the omnium and team pursuit, where she won bronze. During her time with the national team she won 17 world cup and 5 world championship medals across the team pursuit, omnium and madison.

Following 2016, Allison signed with Rally Pro Cycling as a professional road cyclist, while continuing to race track. She won the 2017 Canadian road national title and 2019 Canadian criterium national title while continuing to compete and race internationally. She finished her cycling career in Tokyo at the 2020 Olympic Games competing in the omnium and team pursuit, finishing fourth overall.

Following her cycling career, she returned to complete her Bachelors in Exercise and Health Physiology and is currently pursuing her Masters of Physiotherapy.

What inspired you to become a coach?

Cycling has been a driving force behind some of the most exhilarating moments of my life, and created the foundation for some of my closest friends and mentors. Coaches have been such a critical part of that journey and successes - I see it as a way to share my learnings through sport to enable up and coming young riders.

Outside of racing, my education has focused on health across my Bachelors in Exercise and Health Physiology and ongoing Masters of Physiotherapy. Coaching is an outlet to combine these technical skills with my experience as an athlete.

Best tip for a new bike racer?

Spend time learning the technical skills early on and riding with people better than you! It will pull you along quicker as you develop the strength to go along with it.

Favorite ride food?

Haribo gummy bears.

Favorite post ride/race meal?

Eggs and sourdough.

Motivational warm up song:

Rotated every race - anything upbeat with a good tempo!

Best advice you’ve ever been given?

Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.

Tell us something about yourself that people may not know.

I love baking bread! I am always excited for a good sourdough, my favorite is to add some flavor like chocolate or jalapeno cheddar to keep things exciting.

Favorite words of inspiration:

‘Keep your eyes on the stars and your feet on the ground’

How can you help a client reach their goal?

"Coaching is an opportunity for me to invest in the next generation, leveraging my experience in sport and education in health & physiology. I can provide technical and tactical support gained from years of professional racing alongside a tailored program dependent on your goals, physiology and training history.

In addition, I know how juggling sport, education and life can be difficult, and that often to achieve within sport you need to find balance outside of sport. Through support and expertise I can help guide athletes to find their best on and off the bike." Allison
